Domaine Guy Amiot & Fils
Domaine Guy Amiot is one of the most famous family estate that was founded in 1910, producing white and red winesfrom the best terroirs of Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet, Meursault, Saint Aubin and Santenay. The 4th generation is now running the 12 hectares estate, with respect for the environment. Domaine Guy Amiot is one of the 15 owners sharing the plot of the prestigious Montrachet Grand Cru.
ROOTED IN BURGUNDY TRADITION AND TERROIR
Since 1920, the Amiot family has plunged its roots in the soil and terroir of Chassagne-Montrachet. Arsene and Flavie Amiot, founders of the estate, initiated a wine vocation that has reached the 4th generation represented today by their great grandsons, Thierry andFabrice. Guy, their father, who had given a new start to the family business since 1985, can be satisfied by the immortalization of the family tradition. Thanks to the maintenance of the business by the family sons who follow one another at the head of the Domaine, the vineyards have remained owned by the family. This allows a more tradition viticulture, free from any speculative spirit. Planted in the years of 1920-1930 for most, the vines of chardonnay and pinot noir allow low yields naturally.
A great care is given to the vines, from pruning to harvest in order to express the true terroir identity of each plot. Never exuberant or showy, Amiot’s whites are about layered mineral fruit which express the terroir. The reds, including their Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge, show low depth of fruit. With a respect for the traditions of the past, and an eye on the future, quality has never been better at this highly regarded Domaine.
Today, the tradition continues with the 4th and 5th generations: Thierry and his daughter Héloïse for the vineyard and the cellar, Fabrice for the sales.
